You may want to re-think your comment – Zina Garrison beat Steffi Graf in the semis and lost to Martina in the Final 6-4, 6-1

Both of thes two did win women’s Olympics singles gold. As for 1990 Wimbledon. Zina Garrison beat Martina Navratilova in the semi-final,was beaten in the final not by Jennifer Capriati. And Steffi Graf was in the final of 1990 Wimbledon. That might give you an idea here. As much as I detest women’s tennis, that much I remember, even though tennis is crap.

The problems Jennifer had is the reason the WTA created the rule that girls under the age of eighteen are only allowed to compete in a limited amount of events. It is known as the Jennifer Capriati rule and I agree with it. The WTA did the right thing because some parents are so money hungry and greedy.

It’s a shame Evert retired in 1989 because a Evert vs Capriati match-up in 1990 would have been fascinating.

Some commentators say after a phenomenal start in the first half of 1990, Jennifer Capriati was never the same player, (her greatest accolade then winning the Olympic gold medal in ’92) after this match with Graf, until she quit the tour, got into trouble with the law, but then went back to playing tennis, winning 2 Autralian Opens and 1 French Open. Perhaps Jenny just started the tour a little bit too young. Ability is one thing, but maturity another.

she actually went back home because she had nasty allergies but also to get away from the press that was hounding her with the alleged infidelities of her father.
