For me this is one of the two best tennis matches I ever saw… way up there with Nadal/Federer in the 2008 Wimbledon Final! And believe me, I’ve seen lots of good tennis matches! 😀
i was never that great at tennis but jennifer cap;riati was alway my fave player, i admire her cuz she never gives up, and she shouldnt she i amazin id die to meet her
i adore jennefer ca;priatri SHE IS the reason i play tennis, and she made mde me fight to play we are the same age, she is unbelievanle, she never gives up she fights til the end mach pt down she still fights i love Ei love her so much i wish she inpires more ppl
I feel sorry for her that she never won the US Open, as I think if she had beaten Justine she could have beaten Kim in the final, or the following year when she lost another heartbreak tie break in the semi to Dementieva. But wow Justine … if only more women’s matches were like this in the grand slams instead of these one sided semis and finals all the time!
Justine is such an unbelievable fighter. I think if Capriati had been 6-4, 5-3 up against another player, and again 5-2 up in the third, she would have won it she was playing THAT well, even against the Williams or Clijsters.
yes federer and henin are the most elegant players in the tennis world…but i love nadal because he is a player with less talent than federer ,but worked hard and is became a champion..
funny that you say that, modern game has players with huge 2-handed backhands but (in my opinion anyway) the best player on both women’s and men’s side have 1-handed backhands, and they are so elegant to watch, obvs im talkin about federer and henin
I remember watching this match back in 2003, and in my opinion this is the best women’s tennis match I’ve ever seen. Both players fought till the very end to go to the finals, you could tell they both wanted it so bad. Henin and her backhand so impressive, Capriait with her heavy strokes kept me captivated throughout the whole evening. Thanks for the upload! brings back memories and a lot of emotions! haha
Great stuff. I remember this amazing match very well. Justine had not yet convinced people that she could win a major hard-court event. Personally, I hoped she would play well against Capriati, maybe win a set, but I didn’t expect her to win. This match, and the subsequent match against Cljisters, silenced at lot of doubters.

What happen to Jennifer now? After US Open 2004, she just vanished from the scene completely.

Jennifer lost 1991, 2003 and 2004 USO semifinals in final set tiebreakers after she served for the match each time.
